Writing

Much of Randy’s career has been spent as a writer. In 2003 he was commissioned by the Los Angeles Music Center to write the history of record to document the construction of Walt Disney Concert Hall. The book, Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Historic Story of a Triumphant Partnership was distributed at the concert hall’s grand opening. Randy also wrote a children’s book, A Journey Through the Music Center, first published in 2004 and is in its 19th print. Randy headed the writing teams wrote the lessons plans to accompany his three full length educational documentaries His first novel, Outlaws in Paradise, a dark, satirical take down of corporate America, has recently been completed and will be available in 2024. He is currently working on a second book about aging, Down the Rainbow.

Outlaws in Paradise

Outlaws in Paradise is work of fiction based on my time spent in Fortune 500 companies in Chicago and Los Angeles as a writer and creative director. The book is a dark, satirical take down of the business world that follows three recent college grads navigating the hypocrisy and moral ambiguities of the corporate culture as they struggle to find their place. Set in a Fortune 100 company during the 1980s, the story follows the professional lives of Catherine, John and Zeke who are hired on the same day as copywriters at the in-house creative services department of Seagal and Company, a fictional Chicago-based retailing behemoth. The novel explores the casual cruelty of institutionalized practices that allowed the unchecked sexism and homophobia of the day. Outlaws in Paradise will be available for purchase in 2024.

Down the Rainbow

Down the Rainbow is a collection of essays and reflections on my adventures and the coming to terms with the final chapter of my life still being written. Some of the essay’s are funny, some not so much. I hope all are engaging enough to keep you interested and maybe even provide an insight or two into your own life. This is a work in progress that I invite visitors to this site to read along as I make my way though what eventually I plan to published in book form. I encourage you to share your comments and reflections in the “Contact us” link.
